Admissions

You are very welcome to visit us when making a decision on choosing a preschool. Please however contact our administrator first to make an appointment, to allow us to make sure there is a member of staff available to show you round and answer any questions you have.

You can contact us by phone or email:

Phone: 0779 431 7462

Email: office@newtowncommunitypreschool.co.uk

When you visit we can give you an application form.  It is helpful if at this stage you can tell us what days/sessions you would like your child to come to preschool.  It is important that all parents/carers read our Admissions Procedure.

Admissions Procedure

When you have returned the Application Form, your child is added to our waiting list. We arrange our waiting list in birth order. In addition, our Admissions policy may take into account:

  •   The age of the child, with priority given to children who are eligible for the free entitlement.

  • The length of time they have been on the waiting list.

  • Whether any siblings already attend the setting.

  • The capacity of the setting to meet any specific individual needs of the child.

We will notify you when your child has been allocated a space.

During the term before your child is due to start preschool, you will receive a letter or email inviting you to come for a visit.  During this visit your child will have the chance to find out about preschool, meet the staff and other children and start to settle in.

We will also have some paperwork for you to complete.  All families are given an Information Pack, containing information about the pre-school and our policies. You will be asked to fill in our registration form, and provide proof of your child’s date of birth.  A birth certificate or passport is ideal, though other forms of ID are acceptable – please check with us.  We need this ID to claim Early Years Entitlement funding for your child.   We also ask that you provide at least 2 emergency contact numbers, such as grandparents, other family members or friends, who live in the local area.

We will give you a Welcome Pack with a range of information to help your child settle into preschool.  Please feel free to ask any questions, and should you require this information in another language, please let us know and we will do our best to help you.  If you require information in other formats such as audio or braille, please tell us.

It is important to us that all families and their children feel welcome. We believe it is important to encourage a positive attitude and understanding of difference, whether based on gender, family structure, class, background, religion, ethnicity or competence in spoken English.
