Who We Are

We are a friendly, community-based preschool, with professional, trained staff who work with parents and carers to provide an exciting and varied programme for all children.

  • The overall responsibility for the management of the group lies with the parents’ and carers’ Committee.

  • We work in collaboration with local schools including Newtown Primary School.

All classroom staff are trained in Safeguarding and Paediatric First Aid, and regularly attend a wide variety of training courses to support the health, wellbeing, learning and development of the children.

The staff are also supported by Jayne, our administrator who is responsible for invoicing, wages, legally required paperwork and also answers general enquiries.

The Preschool Committee

One of the great things about preschool is that it is a charity (Charity No: 1031577) run by the parents and carers that use it.

The Committee which runs the preschool consists of parents and carers like yourselves, keen to have a say in the running of their child’s pre-school. They usually meet once every half term.  A variety of decisions are made at committee meetings, including changes to opening hour and fees and planning special events.

“Do I have time to be on a committee?” If you can find the time to help, the experience of a committee member is rewarding and satisfying.  Parents who have been on the committee will agree that it is a worthwhile experience as well as a way to meet new people and gain new skills. There are a number of training courses available which are free to committee members, which could prove useful for your CV.

Levels of involvement vary from the formal roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, to "general” committee members who help as and when they can. We also have regular jobs which can be undertaken by parents who cannot attend meetings, such as shopping, putting up posters around the neighbourhood, washing or mending toys etc.

If you can offer just a little time to help run your child’s preschool, please speak to one of the staff or committee members, or come along to the next meeting. No experience is necessary and all help and support is welcome.
